#SrigleyStats Weekend Recap: Watkins Glen
Taking a look back at this weekend's NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series events from Watkins Glen International.
This weekend’s NASCAR National Series events at Watkins Glen International were complete opposites of each other, in every single way possible, but luckily, both provided their own sense of entertainment.
In Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series event, what started out as a tame event dominated by Ty Gibbs, devolved into total chaos in the closing stages, after Sam Mayer, driver of the No. 1 for JR Motorsports turned the No. 19 around.
However, in Sunday’s Go Bowling at The Glen, no such excitement happened, in fact, nothing really happened to draw any sort of stoppage, other than Chase Elliott running out of gas in one of the most important events of the year.
Granted, both races had their perks, and for William Byron, who went on to score his fifth win of the season, things are finally getting back on track approaching the post-season.

#SrigleyStats Spotlight Driver - Watkins Glen - Connor Mosack
It’s clearly been a difficult season for Connor Mosack, in what has been his first significant campaign in the NASCAR Xfinity Series - running a hybrid schedule between Sam Hunt Racing and Joe Gibbs Racing.
The Charlotte, North Carolina-native has shown some flashes of speed throughout the year but has been the victim of circumstance or mechanical issues in several races this year.
However, on Saturday at Watkins Glen, Mosack persevered to score a career-best fifth-place finish in the No. 24 for Sam Hunt Racing, surviving several late-race restarts, and a few incidents to come home inside the top-five.
Mosack is scheduled to compete in eight more Xfinity Series events for Sam Hunt Racing this season, beginning at Daytona International Speedway on August 25th. The 24-year-old driver will also compete at Kansas, Bristol, Charlotte’s ROVAL, Las Vegas, Homestead, Martinsville, and the season-finale at Phoenix.
As of now, Mosack has no more planned races in the NASCAR Xfinity Series with Joe Gibbs Racing.
Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series event at Watkins Glen International was able to run its full scheduled distance in under two hours (1H:58M:44S), making it the shortest Cup Series event since the Buddy Shuman 276 at Hickory on August 28th, 1971.
