#SrigleyStats Weekend Recap: Richmond / Road America
Taking a look back at this weekend's events from Richmond Raceway and Road America
When it comes to Richmond Raceway, the three-quarter-mile facility has become an old-school track, with lots of green-flag running and lots of different strategies playing out to keep the viewer’s attention. That was the case again for the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, as both races featured everybody who started the race, finishing it.
However, when you look at Road America - where the NASCAR Xfinity Series competed in its annual event this year - chaos was unleashed, largely a result of the brand-new track surface around the 4.048-mile road course.
For those looking for the #SrigleyStats Sheet, don’t worry, that will be released to paid subscribers later this week! If you’re interested in gaining access to the #SrigleyStats Sheet, you can subscribe for $5/month or $50/year, down below:

#SrigleyStats Spotlight Driver - Richmond: Matt Mills
In his first of two NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series events for Kyle Busch Motorsports, Matt Mills proved his worth to the organization, scoring a top-five result in the Worldwide Express 250 at Richmond Raceway, despite some adversity.
Mills, who practiced outside the top-30, says he was trying to shakedown the truck and get used to the intricacies of running in top-tier equipment. The long-time Xfinity Series driver for BJ McLeod Motorsports would rebound, qualifying inside the top five.
The 26-year-old driver did get eaten alive on the restart, and often would lose a couple of positions each time the caution was displayed, but was able to show speed throughout the entire event, and remain inside the top-10, except for when radio issues relegated him to the back of the lead lap.
In the end, it was a strategy call by Brian Pattie that would assist the No. 51 Chevrolet Silverado in getting back to the top-five by race’s end, in what would be the first-ever top-five finish for Mills in NASCAR’s top-three series.
In Sunday’s Cook Out 400 at Richmond Raceway, the entire field not only finished the event but also did so within five laps of race-winner Chris Buescher, making the field the closest together in the history of the NASCAR Cup Series.
