#SrigleyStats Weekend Recap: Nashville Superspeedway
Taking a look back at this weekend's NASCAR Cup, Xfinity, and Truck Series action from Nashville Superspeedway, with a focus on this week's Spotlight Driver,
After a much-needed off-weekend, the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series have returned to action, traveling to Nashville Superspeedway to get the second half of the campaign rolling.
This past weekend marked the run to the post-season for NASCAR’s top-two series, while the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series inched closer to beginning their post-season already.
Friday’s Rackley Roofing 200 saw some incredible racing, with Worldwide Express and Carson Hocevar coming out on top. Saturday’s TN Lottery 250 was a little more chaotic, with AJ Allmendinger taking a damaged car to a top-10 result.
However, on Sunday, Ross Chastain silenced all the doubters and those who criticized, to take home his first victory of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season, snapping a 43-race winless streak.

#SrigleyStats Spotlight Driver - Nashville: AJ Allmendinger
The return to full-time competition in the NASCAR Cup Series hasn’t gone brilliantly for AJ Allmendinger, but over the last couple of weeks, things have started to move in a positive direction for him and Kaulig Racing.
Entering this weekend at Nashville, Allmendinger was surfing on a wave of three straight finishes inside the top-15 - 14th at Charlotte, 14th at Gateway, and sixth at Sonoma - which had propelled him to 20th in points.
Then, in Saturday’s Tennessee Lottery 250, Allmendinger put a whooping on the field in the late stages of the event, scoring his 17th win in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, and his second on the season driving part-time for Kaulig Racing.
That same confidence in his crew from Kaulig Racing clearly transferred over to Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series event, as the No. 16 spent the majority of the event running in or around the top-10.
Despite some struggles on pit road and some long green-flag runs, Allmendinger was able to put his No. 16 Celsius Chevrolet Camaro back inside the top-10 in the closing stages of the race, scoring his third top-10 of 2023.
Heading into the inaugural Chicago Street Race, where Allmendinger is widely thought to be the favorite (if there can even be one), the Los Gatos, California-native sits 19th in NASCAR Cup Series points, 24 points below the cutline.
If things can continue to trend in a positive direction for Kaulig in the NASCAR Cup Series, it’s quite possible we see AJ Allmendinger bringing the team to their first berth in the post-season.
Winning this weekend with Ross Chastain (NCS) and Carson Hocevar (NCTS), Worldwide Express has become the first sponsor since September 2021 to have a pair of winning drivers in the same weekend.
That sponsor was Bass Pro Shops, winning a Cup and Xfinity Series event with Martin Truex, Jr. and Noah Gragson at Richmond on September 11, 2021.
