#SrigleyStats Weekend Recap: Homestead
Taking a look back from NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series action at Homestead-Miami Speedway!
Homestead-Miami Speedway used to be the season finale for the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series — but, still in the post-season, the race is still of the utmost importance.
Christopher Bell, after finishing in the runner-up position at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, was in a bit of a situation until the late stages of Sunday’s event, but was able to persevere and score the victory, locking him into the Final Four.
Sam Mayer and Carson Hocevar also were able to capture victories in NASCAR’s National Series at Homestead-Miami Speedway, punching their tickets into the Final Four in their respective seasons.

#SrigleyStats Spotlight Driver - Homestead - Brad Perez
It’s been a long and winding road for Brad Perez, a fan favorite in the NASCAR Xfinity Series garage, to get to this point — making his first career start on an intermediate facility at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Driving the No. 02 Chevrolet Silverado for Young’s Motorsports, Perez put down a stellar lap in qualifying on Friday, which allowed him to start inside the top-20 for the first time in his NASCAR National Series career.
The Hollywood, Florida native didn’t just put down a stellar qualifying result, but also put down a legendary performance in the race’s first stage, driving the Space Beans-sponsored entry to just outside the top-10, punching well above his weight.
When the dust had settled in Saturday’s 134-lap event, Perez would be credited with a 24th-place finish, one lap down. A mid-race incident would see the No. 02 get into the outside wall, as a result of a flat tire, setting the team back from what could have likely been a top-20 run.
All things accounted for, a top-25 finish — after running inside the top-20, and even the top-15 at times — is a fantastic run, especially for a driver that has never competed at Homestead-Miami Speedway in NASCAR’s National Series.
It’s unknown what is next for Perez, who has done the majority of his NASCAR National Series competing on road courses, but there is no doubt that the 26-year-old driver has become a favorite in the garage.
Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Kyle Busch becomes the sixth driver in the history of the NASCAR Cup Series to finish on the lead-lap 500 times, joining Kevin Harvick (630), Jeff Gordon (588), Mark Martin (558), Jimmie Johnson (511), and Matt Kenseth (511) in this exclusive club.

Earning the victory in Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Sam Mayer picked up his fourth victory in the series — just 84 days after winning his first race, making him the fourth-quickest driver to get his fourth win, after getting his first.
Scott Wimmer (56), Martin Truex, Jr. (57), and Randy LaJoie (75) are the drivers who have gotten their fourth victory quicker after their first than Mayer.
