#SrigleyStats Weekend Recap: Bristol
Taking a look back at this weekend's NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series events at Bristol Motor Speedway.
It’s Bristol Baby! The NASCAR Playoffs continued this past weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway for the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Saturday’s NASCAR Cup Series event at Bristol knocked two former champions out of contention for the championship, Kevin Harvick and Joey Logano, and saw regular-season champion Martin Truex, Jr. barely hold on to advance.
Meanwhile, Thursday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event locked Corey Heim of TRICON Garage into the ‘Championship 4’, allowing him to fight for a title in his first full-time season in the NASCAR Truck Series.

#SrigleyStats Spotlight Driver - Bristol - Michael McDowell:
Michael McDowell didn’t advance to the Round of 12 in the NCS Playoffs.
Though, despite that, McDowell has propelled himself and Front Row Motorsports into being a perennial contender for a spot inside the top-10, something that wasn’t possible for this organization a season ago.
It’s in more than one way, also. The Phoenix, Arizona-native finished sixth place in Saturday’s Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway, his second finish inside the top six on a track smaller than one-mile this season.
But, it’s more than the finish. McDowell ran inside the top-10, and even up inside the top five throughout the entire night, after starting from fourth place, something that the 38-year-old driver has managed to pull off more and more.
In the last six weeks of the NASCAR Cup Series, Michael McDowell has started inside the top-10 on five occasions, including three starting spots inside the top five. In fact, McDowell was one of two drivers to advance to the second round of qualifying in every post-season event to date.
Sure, McDowell and Front Row Motorsports can’t win the NASCAR Cup Series championship in 2024. But, they likely weren’t going to anyway. Now, for the No. 34 team, it’s about finding themselves in victory lane on a consistent basis.
Finishing a career-best 11th place at Bristol, Carson Hocevar secured the best finish of the season for LEGACY MOTOR CLUB’s No. 42 Chevrolet Camaro. It’s the best finish for the No. 42 Chevrolet Since Ty Dillon finished 10th at Bristol Dirt in April 2022. (TWEET)
