IS THE NUMBER ACTIVE?
The #47 was utilized on a full-time basis in only the NASCAR Cup Series in 2023. The number was also utilized on an extremely part-time basis in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
JTG Daugherty Racing currently fields the No. 47 Chevrolet Camaro on a full-time basis in the NASCAR Cup Series. In 2023, the organization scored its first victory in nearly a decade, when Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. won the Daytona 500.
Since debuting in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2009, JTG Daugherty Racing has been the sole organization to use the #47, scoring two career victories throughout its 15-year tenure.
In 2024, Stenhouse enters his fifth season competing for JTG Daugherty Racing in the #47 Chevrolet Camaro. The Olive Branch, Mississippi-native will look to qualify for the post-season for a second straight year, after a strong year for driver and team.
While the #47 wasn’t utilized at any point throughout the 2023 NASCAR Xfinity Series campaign, Mike Harmon Racing (known last year as CHK Racing) has a claim on the number for its second, part-time entry. The number last competed in an event at Talladega in 2022, with Mike Harmon behind the wheel.
In 2024, Mike Harmon Racing says they plan to field the #47 Chevrolet Camaro on a part-time basis — as a secondary entry to the team’s #74.
In the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, the #47 was used on two different occasions last season, once with Dawson Cram at Darlington, and the second time with Tim Viens at Kansas Speedway, both in a start-and-park effort for G2G Racing.
For 2024, G2G Racing is believed to be utilizing the #47 as its primary number — with its former primary number - #46 - now being utilized by Faction46 and Thad Moffitt for the 2024 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series campaign.
In the newly-renamed NASCAR Canada Series, the #47 is a well-known fixture, courtesy of three-time series champion LP Dumoulin, who has competed for several seasons in his WeatherTech-sponsored Dodge.
WHO HAS MOST FREQUENTLY USED THE #47?
NASCAR Cup Series: Jack Smith - 196 Starts
NASCAR Xfinity Series: Jon Wood - 84 Starts
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series: Brandon Knupp - 16 Starts
