IS THE NUMBER ACTIVE?
Yes. In 2023, the #14 competed full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series and on a part-time basis in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. The number hasn’t made an appearance in the NASCAR Xfinity Series since 2022.
In the NASCAR Cup Series, the #14 has a long-standing history, with Stewart-Haas Racing selecting the car number as one of its founding entries, the one that Tony Stewart would drive to many wins and the 2011 championship.
Currently, Chase Briscoe pilots the No. 14 Ford Mustang Dark Horse, with sponsorship from Mahindra Tractors. Briscoe, from Mitchell, Indiana, has been the pilot of the team’s No. 14 since his rookie season in 2021.
In the NASCAR Xfinity Series, the #14 doesn’t get much use. However, in 2022, Kaulig Racing broke out the number to use as a fourth entry for Justin Haley, as the team looked to become a strong four-car unit on the superspeedways. Before Kaulig broke the number out of storage, it hadn’t been used since 2017, when Tri-Star Motorsports fielded it on a full-time basis.
In the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, the #14 makes sporadic appearances, typically on intermediate tracks, with Trey Hutchens, who drives for his self-owned Trey Hutchens Racing organization. Last season, Hutchens entered events at Texas Motor Speedway, Nashville Superspeedway, and Richmond Raceway — only qualifying for one race, Texas.
WHO HAS MOST FREQUENTLY USED THE #14?
NASCAR Cup Series: Tony Stewart — 262 Races
NASCAR Xfinity Series: Ronnie Silver — 155 Races
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series: Tanner Gray — 326 Races
